International Everest Day 2022: Quotes, Pictures, Clips To Refer

With the threat of a new coronavirus hanging big this year, the festivities are anticipated to be low-key. Every year, climbers from all over the world, including some of the world’s most accomplished rock climbers, flock to Mount Everest. Mount Everest was named after Sir George Everest, a British geologist of South Asia in the nineteenth century.

Edmund Hillary, a New Zealander, and Tenzing Norgay, a Sherpa, were members of a British effort that set out to hit the peak of Mount Everest, which reaches 29,035 metres above sea level. However, prior to the last ascent, the majority of the members were compelled to withdraw to campground, and only Norgay and Hillary would be sent to try the final stretch.

On May 28, they arrived at the south peak and take up residence at 27,900 feet for the night. At 6.30 a.m., they restarted their trip and won the second leg.
