IPL 2024: DDCA clueless 'why DC games being shifted', Dada was happy with preparations in stadium; claims official

In a surprising turn of events, Delhi Capitals (DC) will not be playing their first two home matches in their hometown in IPL 2024, choosing to play in Visakhapatnam instead. The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) is clueless about the decision and is fully prepared to host the matches at the Arun Jaitley stadium.

A DDCA official expressed their confusion, saying, “Delhi is all set and fine. God knows why they (the Capitals) are not playing here! We are hosting 11 matches of the WPL and we even told Dada (Saurav Ganguly) that everything will be done. IPL matches won’t get affected.”

The official further mentioned, “If you visit the stadium, we have green turf today. DC should answer as to why they opted for Vizag. DDCA has told the BCCI that we can host matches and there is no problem, but…”

The capital city will host the second leg of Women’s Premier League 2024, with 11 matches, including the final, to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Despite the readiness of the DDCA, DC chose to play in Visakhapatnam for the first phase of the IPL season.

Additionally, Delhi Capitals are preparing for the upcoming season with Rishabh Pant expected to lead the team. Pant is set to make his return to competitive cricket after recovering from multiple injuries sustained in a road accident in December 2022. David Warner led the team in Pant’s absence last year, but the Capitals did not finish in the top 4.
