IPL 2024: Dube’s Ability to Handle Short Balls Reflects Hard Work, says Hussey
Chennai Super Kings batting coach Michael Hussey praised Shivam Dube for his improved performance against short balls during the match against Gujarat Titans. Dube’s aggressive batting approach and ability to score off fast bowlers’ short deliveries were highlighted as a result of his hard work behind the scenes.
Dube’s explosive innings of 51 runs off 23 balls, including two fours and five sixes, showcased his transformation in facing short balls. Hussey emphasized Dube’s readiness to take on bowlers’ plans and credited his dedication for the improvement in this aspect of his game.
After receiving the Player of the Match award, Dube credited the CSK franchise for instilling confidence in him to overcome his short-ball issues. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad mentioned how MS Dhoni personally worked with Dube to enhance his comfort in facing short deliveries, contributing to his increased confidence and success on the field.
Hussey also acknowledged that Dube’s performance could potentially earn him a spot in India’s squad for the Men’s T20 World Cup in June. The batting coach expressed optimism about Dube’s progress and how it could benefit him in future opportunities with the national team.
