IPL 2024: Rachin Ravindra’s Debut Performance Impresses Anil Kumble
The defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) started their IPL 2024 campaign with a win against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Chepauk Stadium. New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra’s standout performance in his debut match garnered praise from fans and experts alike, impressing with both bat and fielding skills.
Rachin was signed by CSK during the IPL 2024 mini-auction after his impressive display at the 2023 ODI World Cup. Former Indian captain Anil Kumble commended Rachin’s performance, expressing surprise at CSK getting him for a low price of Rs 1.80 crore considering his World Cup heroics.
Kumble lauded Rachin’s versatility, emphasizing his skills with bat, ball, and in the field. Rachin’s seamless adaptation into CSK’s lineup was evident as he confidently faced both pace and spin. His aggressive strokeplay, highlighted by three boundaries and three sixes in a quick 37 off 15 balls, left RCB struggling.
Not only did Rachin shine with the bat, but he also played a crucial role in the field by taking important catches of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. Kumble praised Rachin’s adaptability, especially in the spinning conditions of Chepauk Stadium. CSK’s collective batting effort, led by Rachin and substitute Shivam Dube’s contributions, propelled them to a comfortable victory, chasing down RCB’s total of 173 runs with ease.
