There is a theory that recent World Cups were being won by teams whose captains have been married just months before lifting the trophy and in our research we found something that hints the same.

Captains who got married just months before winning the ICC World Cup

1. Pat Cummins And Becky Boston

The 2023 Cricket World Cup was won by Australia and it was led by Pat Cummins. Pat Cummins is a fast bowler who broke the strong Indian batting lineup and won the World Cup for his country on 19 November 2023. Interestingly, Pat Cummins tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend Becky Boston on 1 August 2022.

2. Eoin Morgan And Tara Ridgway

The 2019 ICC World Cup was won by England for the first time when they defeated New Zealand in a thrilling Super Over on 14 July 2019. The English side was led by Eoin Morgan who had married Tara Ridgeway in 3 November 2018.

Australia had scored 359 runs for the loss of two wickets and India could score only 234 runs and were all out in 39.2 overs. The Australian team was led by Ricky Ponting, who married Rhianna Jennifer Canter on 2 June 2002.
