J. Kumar Infra Set to Construct Bridges for Mumbai Eastern Freeway and Navi Mumbai Creek

The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has awarded a Rs 1,330 crore contract to J. Kumar-RSP (JV) for constructing an elevated road corridor for the Eastern Freeway in south Mumbai. Additionally, J. Kumar-SMC (JV) has won a Rs 493 crore contract to build a creek bridge in Navi Mumbai.

The J. Kumar-RSP will construct a 5.6-km long elevated corridor from Orange Gate to Grant Road in Mumbai. This corridor will help reduce traffic congestion at the southern end of the Eastern Freeway and improve connectivity to the Mumbai Coastal Road and other major thoroughfares in the area. The project, with a 70% stake held by J. Kumar, is expected to be completed in 42 months, significantly reducing commuting time from 50-60 minutes to just 5-6 minutes.

In Navi Mumbai, J. Kumar-SMC will build a creek bridge linking Ghansoli-Airoli along the Palm Beach Road. This bridge aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the region and facilitate connectivity to various other infrastructure projects. With a 70% stake in the Rs 493 crore project, J. Kumar’s share amounts to approximately Rs 345 crore. The 1.95 km-long bridge is expected to be completed in 30 months.

These projects mark significant investments in improving the infrastructure of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, addressing key traffic bottlenecks and enhancing connectivity in the region. The completion of these projects is expected to have a positive impact on commuting times and overall traffic flow in these areas, benefitting residents and commuters alike.
