Recently, Google’s AI chatbot and image generator, Gemini came under fire. The reason happens to be claims arising online stating that the chatbot “was turning white historical characters into people of color.” To promote diversity, Gemini was doing so.
The AI chatbot was instructed to misinterpret people from Popes throughout history to the founding fathers of the USA. Famous Canadian players and Vikings also fell into Gemini’s prey.
As the controversy escalated, Jack Krawczyk, the Product Lead of Gemini’s tweets involving racist thoughts went viral.
One of his tweets from April 13, 2018, resurfaced online which stated,
“White privilege is f*cking real. Don’t be an ashole and act guilty about it – do your part in recognizing bias at all levels of egregious.”
Thus, Netizens went to social media platforms and claimed that the current scandal of Google Gemini was influenced by Jack Krawczyk.
Jack Krawczyk’s Old Tweets Resurfaced and Netizens’ Reactions
Netizens are raising questions about whether the product lead, Jack is behind the promotion of diversity currently.
Various tweets of Jack were collected from 2018 to 2021 by X account @LeftismForU.
In those tweets, Jack could be seen pursuing people to “recognize the bias around them.”
In one of his posts from June 22, 2018, he wrote,
“This is America where racism is the #1 value our populace seeks to uphold above all…”
As these tweets resurfaced, Jack Krawczyk is receiving constant backlash from netizens online.
However, until now, the Product Lead of Gemini has not specifically commented on the prevailing issue but posted a clarification on X.
Jack stated,
“We are aware that Gemini is offering inaccuracies in some historical image generation depictions, and we are working to fix this immediately. As part of our AI principles, we design our image generation capabilities to reflect our global user base, and we take representation and bias seriously.”
Jack Krawczyk also inserted a link to the Responsibilities and Principles of Google AI. He added that the primary focus of the company was to work on open-ended prompts.
However, they will “further tune to accommodate the nuances required for historical contexts.”
He also thanked the Netizens for their valuable feedback asking them to continue doing so.

Jack Krawczyk is currently serving as the Senior Director of Product at Google, as per his LinkedIn profile. He has been serving the designation since February 2020.
Previously, he also worked at Chrome Extension, Google Assistants, and Google DeepMind teams as well.
Apart from Google, he also worked at WeWork and VSCO. He also was the “2014 Forbes 30 Under 30.”
Krawczyk is Polish by origin but is currently from San Francisco, California. He is married and has two kids.
