Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence predicts bright future for team in 2024
The Jacksonville Jaguars are gearing up for the upcoming NFL season with high hopes of making it to the playoffs after falling short last year. With a 9-8 record in the 2023 season, the Jaguars missed out on the postseason, but quarterback Trevor Lawrence is optimistic about the team’s prospects this year.
Lawrence, who is entering his fourth season with the Jaguars, believes that the 2024 roster is the best one yet and that the best days are ahead for the team. The Jaguars made significant moves in the offseason to bolster their roster, including signing defensive tackle Arik Armstead to a three-year, $51 million contract and wide receiver Gabe Davis to a three-year, $39 million deal, among other acquisitions.
However, not all experts share Lawrence’s optimism. Craig Carton, host of The Carton Show, expressed skepticism about the Jaguars’ chances of success this season. Carton pointed out that despite Lawrence’s talent, the team struggled to capitalize on opportunities last year and lost valuable players like Calvin Ridley to the rival Tennessee Titans.
Furthermore, Carton raised concerns about Lawrence’s performance compared to rising star C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans, questioning whether Lawrence still holds the title of the best quarterback in the AFC South. Carton emphasized that this season is a “prove-it” year for Lawrence and the Jaguars, as they aim to demonstrate their potential under head coach Doug Pederson.
As the Jaguars prepare for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on Lawrence and the team to see if they can live up to the high expectations set for them. With a mix of excitement and skepticism surrounding the Jaguars, football fans will be eagerly anticipating how the team performs on the field and whether they can make a playoff run in 2024.
