Janet Mbabazi to captain Uganda Women’s squad in T20 WC Global qualifiers

The Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has announced the final squad for the T20 Women’s World Cup Global qualifiers in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Janet Mbabazi will lead the team, with Rita Musamali as vice-captain. The tournament will see Uganda competing against teams like Sri Lanka, USA, Thailand, and Scotland.

The squad includes players who were part of the training tour to India and the African Games. Proscovia Alako replaces Immaculate Nandera in the squad. The team is set to play warm-up matches against Vanuatu and UAE before the group games start on April 25. Uganda will face Scotland and Thailand under lights for the first time.

The Global Qualifier features 10 teams vying for a spot in the T20 Women’s World Cup later this year in Bangladesh. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, with the finalists securing their spot in the World Cup. Uganda is determined to secure a place in the prestigious tournament, showcasing their talent and skills on the international stage.
