
Jeffrey Darren Duncan also known as Jeff Duncan is the United States representative for South Carolina’s 3rd congressional district since 2011. He was born on January 7th, 1966 in Greenville, South Carolina.
His father, who was involved in the textile business, soon moved South. Duncan attended the high school at Mooresville Senior High School in Mooresville, North Carolina and when his father moved South to Ware Shoals, Duncan enrolled at Ware Shoals High School.
It was in senior high school when he met his future wife Melody Hodges. He completed his graduation from Clemson University with a Bachelor in Arts degree in political science. He was also a good sportsman and represented his high school football team.
He opted for banking as a career option and worked as a branch manager and an assistant vice president. He worked in the banking sector for seven years before starting his own business, J. Duncan & Associates, a South Carolina-based, family-owned real estate marketing firm.
The firm specializes in statewide real estate auctions. He remained with the firm in business operations till his election to Congress in 2010.

Jeff Duncan stood for South Carolina’s House District 15 in 2002 and in the first phase, the Republican primary, he defeated local businessman David Tribble Jr.
He was re-elected unopposed for a second term in 2004. He secured 63% of the votes when he stood for a third term in 2006 and in 2008 he was again re-elected unopposed for a fourth term.
He retired to pursue the for the U.S. House of Representatives and Tribble, his staunch opponent won the seat vacated by Duncan.

When Republican incumbent U.S. representative J. Gresham Barrett vacated South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District to run for the governor of South Carolina, Duncan stood for the seat but despite the endorsement of the Club for Growth and the National Right to Life Committee stood second in the six-candidate field with 23%.
Businessman Richard Cash stood first with 25% votes but could not secure the 50% benchmark votes. In the runoff, Duncan defeated Cash by a whisker by 51%–49%, a vote difference of 2,171. Duncan secured victory in five of the district’s ten counties, predominantly in the South.
In 2012 Duncan was re-elected in the freshly redrawn 3rd district and obtained 67% votes. In 2014 he defeated Democratic nominee Barbara Jo Mullis and obtained 71.18% votes.
In 2016 he was again successful in retaining the seat with 72.8% of the vote, over Democratic nominee Hosea Cleveland. The 2018 election again seemed a one-sided affair when he defeated Democratic nominee Mary Geren and American Party nominee Dave Moore and obtained 67.79% votes.
In 2020 he was again successful in retaining the seat he held with 71.21% votes against Democratic nominee Hosea Cleveland.
