The veteran Democrat dared to put on the cap when was attending the 9/11 Vice President Kamala Harris at the Pennsylvania site where Flight 93 crashed.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were wearing the commemorative blue ribbons as the names of the almost 3,000 victims of the attacks on the Twin Towers were read out.
White House spokesman Andrew Bates posted on X
“At the Shanksville Fire Station, President Joe Biden spoke about the country’s bipartisan unity after 9/11 and said we needed to get back to that. As a gesture, he gave a hat to a Trump supporter who then said that in the same spirit, (Biden) should put on his Trump cap. He briefly wore it.”
Joe Biden was replaced by Ms Kamala Harris after he withdrew from the Presidential race.
Joe Biden repeatedly stated that Mr. Trump was a big threat to U.S. democracy.
Commentators were pointing to the fact that the incident came only a day after a prime-time televised presidential debate between Mr. Trump and Democratic nominee Ms. Harris. Trump reportedly told Harris that Biden hates you.
The picture also evoked mixed responses from users on X with one user commenting,
“Half of me think that Biden is just so unaware that he doesn’t realize what’s happening.”
Another user referred to Trump’s debate remark about sending a MAGA hat to Kamala Harris. Ironically Biden ended up wearing one
The opportunity was quickly seized by Mr. Trump’s campaign managers who contended that Biden put on the cap because of Kamala’s bad performance in the debate.
Also, the official Trump War Room account on X (formerly Twitter) shared the image with the caption-
“Thanks for the support, Joe!”
It was a clear attempt to score brownie points on the viral moment and paint the incident as an endorsement of Trump’s 2024 run.
However many neutral observers observed that Trump was poorly prepared, on the defensive on many issues and was obsessed with the past and personal grievances.
