US President Joe Biden has been involved in a fresh controversy and can be seen in a new video where he appears to be leaning towards a woman to kiss her. Apparently, Biden mistook the woman for his wife, Jill. Incidentally, Jill stepped in at the nick of the moment and saved her husband from another episode of embarrassment.
The incident has once again ignited the debate about the health condition of the US President. Social media is filled with debates about the mental acuity concerns of the US president.
Social media has reacted in a mixed way with some users seeing the hilarious side of the story and considering it a minor misdemeanor, while others considered it a big folly with implications for a sitting US president.
A Republican supporter wrote on the social media platform X:
“Keep going, Joe! Only you can save American democracy! By ensuring a MAGA top to bottom landslide.”
Another said,
“If Joe can’t tell who his wife is, what is he doing making any decisions for the country?”
One more user wrote:
“It is a little crazy, but not so crazy. Keep him in the race.”
This video has surfaced at a time when there are reports that hectic parleys are going on within the Democratic Party about Biden’s future in the 2024 presidential race.
Joe Biden has been reported to be suffering from COVID-19 and could consider stepping down as pressure from prominent party figures, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former President Barack Obama, is increasing.
In a statement on X, Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor said,
“The President is still experiencing mild upper respiratory symptoms from his recent COVID-19 infection. He continues to receive Paxlovid. His vital signs remain normal, and he does not have a fever. He will continue to conduct the business of the American people.”
Media houses like the New York Times have also started to talk about Biden accepting the notion that he may not be able to win the Nov. 5 election and may have to drop out of the race.
However, Biden campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond has rubbished the NYT report and said that they are completely wrong.
“The president has said that he is running and it’s the end of the story,” Cedric said.
