JP Dutta, Vidhu Vinod Chopra feted with prestigious Raj Kapoor Awards

Veteran filmmaker J.P. Dutta was honored with the prestigious Maharashtra Bhushan Raj Kapoor Award for his outstanding contributions to Indian cinema. Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra also received the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award at the same event. The awards were presented by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at a ceremony held in Mumbai.

J.P. Dutta expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, “This recognition means everything as it comes from the place I was born and brought up in.” He further added, “Also for a boy who started his career from RK film studios to be given an award named after Raj Kapoor is a feeling I can’t put into words.” The filmmaker thanked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis for honoring him at the event.

Known for his patriotic war films, J.P. Dutta made his debut in cinema with the 1985 action film ‘Ghulami’. He further went on to direct impactful films like ‘Border’, earning him the National Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. The filmmaker’s dedication to showcasing stories of national importance has been widely appreciated in the industry.
