Kanpur’s Vaibhav Gupta Wins ‘Indian Idol 14’ and Performs ‘Joru Ka Ghulam’ with Sonu Nigam
Mumbai, March 3 (IANS) – Vaibhav Gupta, known as ‘Kanpur ka Tarana’, emerged as the winner of the singing reality show ‘Indian Idol 14’. He clinched the trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh and a ‘Hot and Techy’ Brezza car. The grand finale also saw Shubhadeep Das Chowdhury and Piyush Panwar as the first and second runners-up, respectively.
The six finalists, which also included Ananya Pal, Adya Mishra, and Anjana Padmanabhan, gave stellar performances throughout the competition. Sonu Nigam made a special appearance as a judge for the grand finale, alongside Neha Kakkar who will be seen as the ‘super judge’ in the next season of ‘Superstar Singer’.
Vaibhav Gupta showcased his talent with a rendition of ‘Jumma Chumma’ for the ‘Pyarelal Symphony’ challenge and performed a duet with Sonu Nigam on ‘Joru Ka Ghulam’ during the finale. Expressing his joy, Vaibhav said, “Taking forward the legacy of this beloved and prestigious show is a tremendous honour.”
