The game is organized under the patronage of the Khasi Sports Association which is an umbrella organization of 12 sports club.

The event is held daily from Saturday to Monday with the exception of Sunday. Any resident of the State of Meghalaya can participate in the game and tickets can be brought from 10.00 a.m. to 03.30 p.m. from over 5000 lottery vending kiosk. The ticket can also be booked online from the website of Meghalaya Lottery. Results are declared usually for both the phases of the archery events by 05.00 p.m.

As already mentioned the Khanapara Teer event is an archery event which involves fifty archers who shoot arrows at a target. The event is held in two phases and in the first phase the archers shoot thirty arrows at a target in a stipulated time. In the second phase, the archers shoot twenty arrows at the target/. The lottery ticket holder who correctly predicts the number of arrows which has hit the target is the winner.
