Kia Clavis spotted before launch, potential debut in late 2024

Kia Clavis Spotted Ahead of Launch, Could Debut in Late 2024

Kia is set to introduce a new SUV, the Clavis, to its lineup following the success of the Sonet and Seltos. The SUV was recently spotted testing on Indian roads and is expected to be unveiled by the end of 2024, with the launch scheduled for early 2025. Positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, the Clavis is anticipated to start a new segment in the market.

The test mule of the Clavis was camouflaged, hiding its design features, but it is believed to have a square shape with tall vertical LED Daytime Running Lamps. With an estimated length of 4.2 meters, the SUV will offer seating for five passengers. Some design cues from Kia’s electric flagship EV9 are evident, particularly in the rear tail lamps.

Equipped with roof rails and four-spoke alloy wheels, the Clavis is expected to have generously sized windows, ensuring a spacious and airy cabin. While some design elements remain a mystery, the overall look of the SUV seems promising for future buyers.

The Kia Clavis is likely to come with various engine options, including a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The turbo petrol engine is capable of producing 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque, with transmission options ranging from a 6-speed iMT to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Additionally, a naturally aspirated petrol engine may be offered to lower the starting price of the Clavis, potentially using the 1.5-litre unit from the Seltos or the 1.2-litre unit from the Sonet.

As Kia gears up to expand its SUV lineup with the Clavis, car enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting its official unveiling and market launch. The introduction of this new model is expected to further strengthen Kia’s position in the competitive SUV segment.
