Kim Burrell, who is a well-known American gospel singer and songwriter, has apologized for something she had said 7 years ago.
Kim made a mean comment about the LGBTQ community 2017 and now she is facing the repercussions for the same.
Kim Burrell Apologizes For Her Homophobic Comments
Kim was in the church during a sermon where she said that if anyone was dealing with homosexual spirits, then they should ask God to free them, as there was a warning that they would die if they didn’t change their way of life and living.
This speech was recorded and posted on internet, which revealed a lot of backlash because of how sensitive the nature of this topic.
Kim at that time did respond to the hate comments she was getting.
She stuck true to what she stated and said that God hates people who are homosexual and she strongly believed the same.
However, times have changed, and we’re hoping Kim’s take on sensitive things like this has also changed.
Kim, who is now 51 years old recently apologized for her past commentary on July 21, 2024.
Kim appeared on the gospel music awards show, Stellar Awards and received Aretha Franklin Icon Award.
When she took to the stage to make her speech, she mentioned that she was apologizing to the homosexual community. She also said that God accepts and treats everyone the same way.
Kim said,
“I want to apologize to the LGBTQ community. We must all do the work to embrace all of God’s people and show His love to everyone.”
In 2017, Kim mentioned that homosexuality was a perverted spirit that tends to creep up on common people and cause confusion and delusions among people.
Kim was cancelled because of the comments she made and faced a lot of backlashes.
