New Delhi, Feb 29 (IANS) India wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul has been ruled out of the fifth Test against England in Dharamsala, as confirmed by the BCCI on Thursday. Rahul’s absence was due to ongoing fitness concerns, with specialist consultation in London. Ace fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will rejoin the squad for the final Test.

Rahul’s absence from the squad has been ongoing since the initial Test in Hyderabad, with ongoing issues in his right quadriceps. The BCCI Medical Team continues to monitor his progress closely, with further management being handled by specialists in London. Bumrah, previously released for the fourth Test, will join the team for the final match in Dharamsala.

Furthermore, Washington Sundar has been released from the squad to participate in the Ranji Trophy semifinal match for Tamil Nadu against Mumbai. He is expected to rejoin the India squad following the completion of the domestic fixture. The fifth and final Test is set to begin on March 7 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala.

The updated India squad for the fifth Test includes Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), and a mix of experienced and emerging players.
