Kotkapura firing incident: SIT said- Sukhbir Badal to appear on June 26

The Special Investigation Team probing the Kotkapura firing incident has asked former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal to appear before it on June 26. The SIT had questioned former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday.

Sukhbir was the deputy chief minister of the state when the incident of sacrilege of a religious text in Faridkot in 2015 and subsequent police firing on protesters. Following the order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Punjab government has constituted a new SIT to probe the Kotkapura firing. The High Court had quashed the report of the previous SIT.

The summons issued to the chief of Shiromani Akali Dal said, “You are appealed to appear before the Special Investigation Team on June 26, 2021 at 11 am at Punjab Police Officers’ Institute, Sector 32, Chandigarh.
