La Course 2021: Britain’s Lizzie Deignan claims victory in Nice

Breaking news

Britain’s Lizzie Deignan has gained La Course with a surprising dash end in Nice.

The 2019 champion Marianne Vos had moved into the lead with 400m to go, however Deignan chased down the Dutch rider to assert the victory on the road.

Deignan and Vos have been two of six riders who broke away from the primary group with 44km to go.

It’s the 31-year-old’s second win this week, after victory in GP de Plouay in Brittany on Tuesday.

Extra to observe.
