Lance Klusener joins Lucknow Super Giants as assistant coach for IPL 2024

South Africa cricket legend Lance Klusener has been appointed as the assistant coach of Lucknow Super Giants for the upcoming 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Klusener, known for his all-round skills, will work closely with head coach Justin Langer for the LSG team. Klusener has a rich coaching experience, having worked with various teams in the past including Mumbai Indians, and will bring his expertise to the LSG franchise.

Klusener, who represented South Africa in both Tests and ODIs, will be a valuable addition to the coaching staff of LSG. The RPSG Group, who operate the LSG franchise, also own the Durban Super Giants in the SA20 tournament where Klusener currently serves as the coach. His experience as the head coach of Afghanistan and as a batting coach with South Africa and Zimbabwe will be beneficial for the LSG team.

“We wish him a fantastic upcoming IPL campaign and are sure he will contribute greatly to the franchise during his time in India,” Lucknow Super Giants said in a statement on their website. Klusener will be part of a strong coaching staff at LSG which includes renowned names like Morne Morkel, Jonty Rhodes, and MSK Prasad.

In addition to his international coaching stints, Klusener has also worked with various domestic and franchise teams in different T20 leagues around the world. With his vast experience, LSG will look to benefit from Klusener’s expertise in the upcoming IPL season. The team is set to kick off their campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 24 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Lucknow Super Giants will play their first home game of the season on March 30 against Punjab Kings at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Having made it to the playoffs in both the seasons since their inception in 2022, LSG will aim to continue their strong performance in the IPL under the guidance of a well-rounded coaching staff led by Justin Langer and now with the addition of Lance Klusener.
