Large number of students join ABVP’s ‘Mashal Yatra’ at JNU

New Delhi, March 20 (IANS) – The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organized a massive “Mashal Yatra” (torch march) in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Tuesday night, with hundreds of students from various departments participating. The torch march commenced from Ganga Dhaba at JNU and concluded at the Chandrabhaga hostel.

Led by ABVP president candidate Umesh Chandra Ajmira, vice president candidate Deepika Sharma, secretary candidate Arjun Anand, and joint secretary candidate Govind Dangi, the rally witnessed enthusiastic chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ echoing throughout the JNU campus.

ABVP JNU Unit Secretary Vikas Patel expressed, “The massive turnout in the torch march signifies the growing support for ABVP in JNU. The Left ideology is diminishing, and ABVP is poised to contest strongly in all four seats of the JNU Student Union elections.”

In addition to the key positions, ABVP has also released the names of its candidates for 42 counselor posts in JNU, gearing up for the upcoming student union elections. Presidential debates are scheduled for March 20, with the elections set to be held on March 22.

The ABVP’s “Mashal Yatra” in JNU serves as a demonstration of its increasing influence on the campus, as students align with the nationalist sentiment and show support for the ABVP candidates contesting in the upcoming student union elections.
