Let’s be real, it is not uncommon for the audiences to shed a little tear whenever they hear a song by the legendary Lata Mangeshkar. Especially the songs she used to direct towards the romance genre as well as losing someone, that hit home! It has been extremely sad that we did lose her, but she will always be there in our media and hearts, Lata Mangeshkar gave us some of the best songs Bollywood ever came up with. Lata was born on September 28, 1929 today is her birthday, but unfortunately, we lost her when she was 92, dated February 6, 2022.

Playback vocalist and occasionally active songwriter Lata Mangeshkar was from India. She is regarded by many as one of India’s most important and influential vocalists. Her eight-decade experience in the Indian entertainment industry earned her honorary nicknames like “Queen of Melody,” “Nightingale of India,” and “Voice of the Millennium.”

Although Lata Mangeshkar mostly worked in Marathi, Hindi, as well as Bengali, Lata performed and recorded in more than 36 different Indian languages as well as a few other tongues. She spoke English, Indonesian, Russian, Dutch, Nepali, and Swahili, among other dialects. During her profession, she won numerous awards and honors. She received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award from the Indian government in 1989. She was just the second female singer to earn the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, in 2001 in acknowledgment of her achievements in the country, following M. S. Subbulakshmi. Officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honor, France’s prestigious award prize was given to her in 2007.

Lata Mangeshkar once claimed to be the musician who had been documented the most between 1948 and 1987, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
