Recently, a confidential recording of Kari Lake, the Arizona Senate candidate, was leaked online by the Daily Mail. In the recording, Jeff DeWit, the GOP leader of the state, was heard asking Kari Lake ‘to name her price to stay out of politics for two years.’ The recording dates back to March 2023, and in it, Jeff DeWit mentioned, ‘There are very powerful people who want to keep you out.’

Currently, she is a 54-year-old woman from Illinois and is running to replace Kyrsten Sinema, the independent Senator of Arizona.
Jeff DeWit’s Identity Who Tried to Bribe Kari Lake
According to the Daily Mail, Jeff DeWit’s real name is Jeffrey James DeWit. He is an American politician and businessman who has been serving as the Chairman of the Republican Party in Arizona since January 2023. Previously, from April 2018 to February 2020, he was the Chief Financial Officer of NASA. From January 2015 to April 2018, he served as the 43rd State Treasurer of Arizona.
Exploring Kari Lake and Jeff DeWit’s Leaked Conversation
The unverified audio circulating on social media includes a conversation between Kari Lake and Jeff DeWit. DeWit began with, ‘Is there a number at which…?’ and Kari Lake could be heard finishing, ‘I can be bought?’ Lake laughed and asked, ‘What is it about?’ To which, DeWit replied, ‘You can pause for a couple of years now, then go right back to it.’
Kari Lake denied stating that her political career could be bought, emphasizing that it was not up for sale. She expressed concern about the future of the state, not about money.
Lake continued, ‘I think it’s disturbing that anybody would think this is…’ DeWit interrupted, expressing his desire to see a new face at the state Senate. However, he mentioned that other political figures wanted Lake to stay away from politics for the time being. To this, Lake promptly replied, ‘I’m not going to let these people who hate our country tell me not to run. You should call them and tell them to get behind me.’
When Kari Lake sought further clarification, DeWit said he received instructions from ‘back east’ and powerful people there were ready to give as much money as she asked. DeWit also ensured that Lake would act as if their ‘conversation never happened.’
Lake then stated that she was an ideal candidate to ‘run for the Senate,’ and DeWit seemed to agree. However, he mentioned that Lake could also reject the proposal.
In the leaked audio, Lake presented several points, seemingly agreed upon by Jeff DeWit.
