Lee from PGA TOUR Korea emerges as a strong contender at Valspar Championship

South Korea’s K.H. Lee shines with a 4-under 67 round at the Valspar Championship, putting him in contention just two shots behind five co-leaders. Lee’s impressive performance comes after missing the cut at THE PLAYERS Championship last week, showing his determination to bounce back.

Lee’s score of 4-under 138 places him in a tie for 15th position, within striking distance of the leaders at 6-under. Reflecting on his round, Lee mentioned, “Windy day, pretty hard conditions. But I tried to be patient…I made an eagle on 11, that was some good momentum. I played well today.”

Coming off a tied fourth finish at the Cognizant Classic, Lee’s strong start included an eagle on the 11th hole and two additional birdies. He emphasized the importance of a superior iron game on the challenging Copperhead Course as he aims for his third PGA TOUR victory.

Joining Lee in the mix are players like China’s Carl Yuan and Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune, while veterans like Stewart Cink, aged 50, are also in contention. Cink, seeking his ninth PGA TOUR victory, praises the demanding nature of the course and his own solid performance so far.

As the tournament progresses, Lee and the other contenders will look to navigate the tough conditions and maintain their momentum heading into the weekend rounds. With players like Justin Thomas in the mix, the Valspar Championship promises an exciting finish for golf fans worldwide.
