Bayer Leverkusen Secures First Bundesliga Title

Berlin, April 15 (IANS) Bayer Leverkusen clinched its first-ever Bundesliga title with a commanding 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen, ending Bayern Munich’s streak of 11 consecutive championships. The Werkself enters history books with this win.

The game started with Leverkusen applying early pressure, leading to Victor Boniface’s penalty goal at the 22-minute mark. Despite a strong fight from Werder Bremen, Leverkusen dominated the match, with Florian Wirtz scoring a hat-trick in the second half.

Leverkusen remains unbeaten in 43 games, with an unprecedented 29-match unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga and a record 79 points this season. “I still can’t realize what we have achieved today,” said Wirtz. The team is eyeing the UEFA Europe League and Germans Cup titles next.

In another match, Freiburg increased Darmstadt’s relegation fears with a 1-0 win. Ritsu Doan scored the sole goal for Breisgauer. Leverkusen’s victory marks a historic moment in Bundesliga history, dethroning Bayern Munich after 11 years of dominance.
