LFW x FDCI: Exciting Beginnings from Four Emerging GenNext Designers

Mumbai, March 13 (IANS) The GenNext show at Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI kicked off with a bang, showcasing four new and promising designers on its latest edition. The fashion extravaganza started on Wednesday and will conclude with a grand finale on March 17.

The event saw designers Rohitash Notani, Charmee Ambavat, Kriti Greta Singhee, and Shimona Agrawal making their debut with unique and creative collections. Singhee started off with a collection inspired by geometric patterns and sustainable fabrics, while Agrawal presented a collection paying tribute to Benarasi silk with a modern twist.

Ambavat’s collection, ‘Indigene’, drew inspiration from indigenous tribes of Africa, showcasing intricately painted mud houses made from locally manufactured organic cotton. Notani’s collection named ‘Anima and Animus’ explored the duality of masculinity and femininity through office wear and embroidered fabrics.

Singhee expressed her excitement, stating, “My collection is all about textile manipulations and I have used the origami technique.” Agrawal highlighted the craftsmanship in her collection, saying, “Hue is a captivating tribute to Benarasi silk but with a twist that it is completely brocade free.”

Ambavat explained her collection’s theme, saying, “The collection has taken inspiration from Africa. The primitive and raw nature that you find in Africa… We have tried to keep it as conscious as possible.” Notani, reflecting on his collection, emphasized, “Celebrating the duality that coexists within us. The pluralistic identities.”

The inaugural day of the fashion event was marked by a blend of black and grey hues along with a mix of other vibrant colors and textures. The GenNext platform has a history of launching successful designers like Masaba Gupta, Nachiket Barve, and Rahul Mishra. This year’s edition promises to be a spectacular showcase of fresh talent and innovative designs.

Overall, the GenNext show at Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI set the stage for a dazzling lineup of new designers and their creative collections, signaling a promising start to the latest edition of the celebrated fashion event.
