Lightning strikes 52 feet flag of Dwarkadhish temple, Dwarka residents say, ‘God saved us’

Lightning strikes on the famous Dwarkadhish temple in Dwarka, Gujarat, on Tuesday. The 52-foot flag of the temple has been damaged due to the lightning. But, Dwarkadhish temple has not been damaged. Only the walls of the temple are blackened. The incident took place around 02.30 PM on Tuesday. Video of lightning strike at Dwarkadhish temple is going viral on social media. The temple is surrounded by a very dense population. If lightning had struck such a densely populated area, major accidents would have occurred.

The flag hoisted on the Dwarkadhish temple has a special significance. This flag is called the 52 feet flag. This 52 feet flag is hoisted on this temple 3 times a day. Dwarkadhish is the only temple in the country to do so. Devotees have great faith in this flag. They often have to wait up to two years to hoist the flag. This is the first time that lightning has struck a part of the temple. Dwarkadhish has saved the citizens of the city from a big accident ‘, locals said.

There was no damage to the temple

Lightning struck the Dwarkadhish temple on Tuesday afternoon. The temple premises were inspected after the incident. The temple has not been damaged by lightning. Only the flag is damaged. After the inspection, the pooja-aarti in the temple is going on normally, said Nihar Bhetaria, Deputy Collector of Dwarka.

Dwarkadhish Temple is considered to be the oldest and holiest temple in Gujarat. This temple is located on the banks of the Gomti River. This is the temple of Lord Krishna. It is considered to be one of the few major temples of Lord Krishna in the country. The Dwarkadhish temple is said to be about 2200 years old. It is said that this temple was built by Vajranabh. In this temple area, there are temples of Lord Krishna, Subhadra, Balram, Revati, Vasudeva, Rukmini and many other gods and goddesses. The decoration of the temple on Shrikrishna Janmashtami is eye-catching. Along with this, grand events are also organized. Millions of people come here to watch the festivities.
