It is basically a reaction image, a behind-scenes photo from the 1992 film ‘Godzilla vs. Mothra’ where Gozilla is laying in a wheelbarrow. The photo was later converted into a reaction image captioned, “Godzilla had a stroke trying to read this and fucking died” in May 2019. The image was then later uploaded on Reddit where it slowly came into mainstream media i.e in text form by June 2020.

The image originated from the collection of images published by Gizmodo in 2012, They were a part of behind-the-scenes Godzilla photos. The photos were taken on the set of the 1989 film Godzilla vs Biollante. Later in 2019, iFunny user TitanuMosura uploaded a picture with text over it saying- “Godzilla had a stroke trying to read this and fucking died” which received attracted millions of memekars attention.
