Los Angeles vault robbed of $30 million by thieves

Los Angeles, April 5 (IANS) Police and the FBI are investigating the theft of up to $30 million from a money storage facility in Sylmar, Los Angeles on Easter Sunday. The thieves broke in undetected and accessed the money storage area, possibly a vault, after entering through the roof.

According to law enforcement sources, the burglary at the GardaWorld facility in Sylmar was one of the largest cash heists in Los Angeles history. The company only discovered the theft on Monday morning, suggesting an experienced crew of burglars behind the elaborate break-in.

The break-in, which surpassed any armoured-car heist in the city, was described as an elaborate operation. The thieves were able to infiltrate the secure facility without setting off alarms, indicating a high level of sophistication. The total amount stolen exceeded the prior largest cash heist in the city in 1997.

Authorities believe the burglars targeted the facility to access cash from businesses across the region. With the break-in orchestrated on Easter Sunday night, it remains unclear how the thieves were able to pull off such a daring theft without detection. Police and the FBI are working diligently to uncover more details surrounding the incident.
