LSG pacer Shivam Mavi sidelined from IPL 2024 due to injury

Lucknow Super Giants’ fast bowler Shivam Mavi has been ruled out for the rest of IPL 2024 due to injury, the franchise announced on Wednesday. The Lucknow-based team is yet to announce Mavi’s replacement. Mavi, who joined LSG for Rs 6.4 crore after the auction, had not played a match this season despite being part of the squad since the pre-season.

“He has been a key part of the squad for the season, hence we as well as Shivam are disappointed that his season has come to an end so soon. The franchise will continue to support Shivam and is committed to aiding him in his recovery process. We wish him a swift and complete return, and are sure he will be back fitter and stronger,” the LSG statement read.

Mavi expressed his disappointment, stating, “I will miss it a lot. I came here after an injury and thought I will get to play matches for the team. But unfortunately, I will have to go, because I have an injury.” Despite the setback, Mavi acknowledged the need for mental strength in overcoming injuries in cricket and expressed confidence in LSG’s team.

LSG, currently ranked fourth with two wins in three outings, will face Gujarat Titans on April 7 at BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium. The team will look to continue their strong performance in Mavi’s absence, as they strive for success in the ongoing IPL season.
