Madhuri Dixit Reveals How People Told Her She 'Doesn't Look Like A Heroine', Said 'If you find success, people will forget everything else'

Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit is enjoying the success of her first Netflix series ‘The Fame Game’ these days. The actress, who has been in the Indian film industry for over three decades and has received the Padma Shri for her contribution to Indian cinema recently recalled what she was told when she entered the film industry as a newbie.

In a new interview, Madhuri said that in her early days’ people used to say that “I don’t look like a heroine.”

However, as we all know, Madhuri Dixit later became one of the most successful female actors in Bollywood, delivering multiple hits in her career including, Hum Aapke Hai Koun…!, Dil to Pagal Hai, Dil, Devdas, Anjaam, Tezaab, etc.

Notably, Madhuri has been nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress a record fourteen times, out of which she has also won the award four times. In 2008, in recognition of his unforgettable contribution to Indian cinema, she was also awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, by the Government of India.

Let us tell you, Madhuri has made her debut on the digital platform with ‘The Fame Game’. In this deceptive mystery Web Series, she stars alongside actor Sanjay Kapoor, with whom she also starred in 1995’s action romantic drama film “Raja”, and 1997’s romantic film “Mohabbat”.

In this eight-episode Netflix series, Madhuri Dixit is playing the main character, Anamika Anand, a movie star who suddenly goes missing. The series also stars Manav Kaul, Lakshvir Saran, Suhasini Muley, and Muskkaan Jafari.

While speaking to Siddharth Kannan she remembered her old days, “People used to say that I don’t look like a heroine because I was a very young girl, from the Maharashtrian root, very petite. Everybody has those myths that what should a heroine should look like. There was a little bit that I had to face. My mother was very strong lady, she said you do good work and you will get recognition. I have always followed her advice, she used to say, if you find success, people will forget everything else.

Let us tell you, Madhuri Dixit made her acting debut in 1984 with the film Abodh alongside Tapas Paul. She gained immense recognition and success after the release of Tezaab in 1988, which also starred actor Anil Kapoor in the lead.
