Maha bureaucratic reshuffle: Ashwini Bhide named MD of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation
In a major administrative reshuffle, Maharashtra government transferred senior bureaucrats on Tuesday. Ashwini Bhide is now the Managing Director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation, while Rajesh Narvekar, Abhijit Bangar, and Sanjay Meena have been appointed to new roles in various municipal bodies. Ankit and Vishal Narwade have also been reassigned as Zilla Parishad CEOs, alongside Amit Saini and Shubham Gupta in BMC and Jalgaon Zilla Parishad respectively.
The Election Commission of India’s directive to transfer officials who have completed three years in office or are about to by June 30 led to this bureaucratic shake-up. BMC Commissioner Iqbal Chahal is among those affected by this decision. This move aims to ensure transparency and efficiency in governance by bringing in fresh perspectives and leadership to key administrative positions.
Ashwini Bhide, who previously served as BMC’s Additional Commissioner, brings her expertise to MMRC as its new Managing Director. Similarly, the appointments of Narvekar, Bangar, Meena, Ankit, Vishal Narwade, Amit Saini, and Shubham Gupta reflect the government’s commitment to optimizing administrative processes and promoting accountability within municipal bodies. This reshuffle signals the state’s proactive approach in ensuring effective governance and smooth functioning of public services across various regions.
