Maharashtra and UP boxers shine on Day 2 of Sub Jr Nationals

In the 3rd Sub Junior National Championship held at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra boxers shined on the second day. Four boys from Uttar Pradesh and six girls from Maharashtra secured victories, showcasing their boxing prowess.

Gurdeep, Devansh Yadav, Pranjeet Singh, and Bhavya from Uttar Pradesh displayed remarkable performances, with Gurdeep winning in the 37kg category and Devansh Yadav and Pranjeet Singh earning 5-0 victories. Bhavya faced a tough challenge from Telangana’s Mohammed Ur Rehman but managed to secure a 4-1 win.

The girls category saw Maharashtra boxers dominating with six boxers moving into the next round. Samrudhi Randeep, Samiksha Ghodeswar, and Shanaya won their bouts with unanimous 5-0 decisions, while Ishika Zambre and Samruddhi Shinde secured hard-fought 4-1 victories.

Avantika Kewat from Maharashtra showcased an aggressive display, winning her bout with a Referee Stop Contest in the third round. Overall, four boxers from Telangana and Tamil Nadu also qualified for the next round on day two of the championship.

The semifinals and finals of the championship are scheduled to be played on Sunday and Monday, respectively, where the top boxers from different states will compete to claim the national title.
