Maharashtra win IDCA 3rd Test National Cricket Championship for Deaf 2024
The Maharashtra deaf cricket team emerged victorious in the IDCA 3rd Test National Cricket Championship Trophy for Deaf 2024, defeating the Madhya Pradesh deaf cricket team with a lead of 45 runs at Essex Farms Cricket Club, Chhawla, Delhi. The championship, which began on February 12, saw the participation of four teams from Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
In the final match held on Saturday, the Maharashtra team clinched the championship title and was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000, while the runner-up, Madhya Pradesh, received a consolation prize of Rs. 50,000. Additionally, individual players were recognized for their outstanding performances in categories such as batting, bowling, fielding, and super sixes.
The tournament was organized by IDCA in collaboration with the Serum Institute of India, and the closing ceremony, where the winning team was felicitated, was attended by the chief guest, Dr. Sushi Singh, President, Centre for CSR | BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry; and Vice President, Police Families Welfare Society, Delhi Police.
The Maharashtra team’s triumph in the championship signifies their dedication and skill in the sport of cricket, showcasing the talent present in the deaf cricket community.
