Mahindra Thar 5-door becomes trapped in mud in new video footage
A viral video on Instagram has highlighted the challenges faced by a camouflaged Thar five-door SUV as it struggled to navigate a muddy side road. The video showcases the vehicle sending power to the rear wheels only, hinting at it being an RWD (rear-wheel drive) model.
The Thar RWD three-door variant, available in diesel and petrol options, offers 117 bhp peak power and 300 Nm of maximum torque for the diesel variant. The petrol variant produces 150 bhp peak power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The availability of these engines in the five-door variant remains to be seen.
Mahindra is expected to launch the five-door Thar later this year, with several cosmetic enhancements to distinguish it from the three-door model. Recent spy shots reveal larger 19-inch alloy wheels compared to the 18-inch wheels on the three-door Thar.
In addition to the recent viral video, earlier spy shots from Landour showed the five-door Thar undergoing high-altitude testing. These tests are crucial for manufacturers to ensure optimal performance in various conditions before the vehicle hits the market.
As Mahindra continues to conduct tests on the upcoming five-door Thar, consumers are eagerly awaiting its launch later this year to see how it compares to its predecessor.
The video shared on social media of the Thar struggling in mud raises questions regarding the capabilities of the upcoming five-door variant and has garnered attention and anticipation from SUV enthusiasts.
The company’s plans for addressing any challenges highlighted by the recent viral video and subsequent testing will be closely watched by both experts and enthusiasts in the automotive industry.
