“Mai” Web Series Review: Sakshi Tanwar’s Scintillating Acting Saved Netflix’s Web Series, Read Full Review

‘Mai” Web Series has been released on Netflix this week. ‘Mai’ is a crime-investigative-thriller series. It is a story of vengeance by a mother on her daughter’s killer. The title of the series ‘Mai’ i.e. Maa or mother reminds you of Sridevi’s ‘Mom’ and Raveena Tandon’s ‘Matr’. The story of both these films was also based on almost the same subject.

Sakshi Tanwar Excels In Her Role As A Desperate Mother

A desperate mother searching for the cause of her daughter’s death and then filled with a feeling of injustice wants to take vengeance on her daughter’s killers. This is the gist of this web series. The series is produced by Clean Slatz Films and is helmed by debutant Atul Mongia and Phillauri’s Anshy Lal. ‘Mai’, starring Sakshi Tanwar, Vamika Gabbi and Raima Sen in lead roles. All the actors have done full justice in the web series but it is the portrayal of a mother by Sakshi Tanvir who steals the show. Sakshi carries the series on her shoulders and excels with her acting.

Sheel Choudhary is a middle class housewife who is leading a happy and contended life until her daughter is killed in a freak accident. However what seemed an accident is a big conspiracy and as Sheel links all the pieces together, the final truth completely devastates her. She is up against a cartel of medical scamsters and political big Whigs. She does not get any help from the justice system and wages her battle alone to bring her daughter’s killers to justice and take vengeance.

Sakshi Tanwar -The Super Star Of OTT Space

The story of ‘Mai’ is brilliantly woven though the directors falters in between with a so many characters who make stretch the story and the real issue gets bleak. Sakshi Tanwar has been active in the OTT space for a long time, but this is the first series in which she is the center of the story. Sakshi has not let this trust break even and has given life to the character of a middle class mother who is battling with many responsibilities at once.

The director duo has done a fine job of keeping the cast within the framework of their characters.
