Man arrested for making extortion threat to Haryana Canal Department official
GURUGRAM: Punit Kaushik alias Punit Pandit, a resident of Faridabad, was arrested for allegedly threatening a Haryana Canal Department Superintendent and demanding Rs 10 lakh. The accused has a history of criminal cases, including murders, extortion, and Arms Act violations in Gurugram, Faridabad, and Palwal.
The Superintendent filed a complaint on October 10, 2023, stating that he received a threat on his WhatsApp number. The Civil Lines Police Station in Gurugram registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC. The Crime Branch team of Sector-17 police station apprehended the accused on Wednesday.
The police revealed that the accused has multiple murder cases registered against him in Gurugram, Faridabad, and Palwal. The accused appeared in court on Thursday and has been remanded to two days of police custody for further interrogation.
