Man City and Arsenal share points in goalless draw, leaving Liverpool at the top of Premier League

In a defensive showdown, Arsenal held Manchester City to a goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium, allowing Liverpool to stay on top of the table. Despite City’s dominance in possession, they couldn’t find a way past the resolute Gunners defense led by Gabriel and Saliba.

Manchester City’s 72% possession didn’t translate into clear-cut chances as they were thwarted by Arsenal’s defensive resilience. The draw sees Arsenal drop to second place, two points behind Liverpool, who secured a 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion earlier in the day, with City trailing by a point in third.

Both teams struggled to create many scoring opportunities in a tense and feisty encounter, with City being held goalless at home for the first time in 58 games. Ake and Kovacic came close for City, while Gabriel Jesus and Trossard threatened for Arsenal, but ultimately, both teams had to settle for a point.

Despite their defensive efforts, Arsenal will be concerned about Saka’s injury, as they prepare to face Luton Town next. City, who only managed one shot on target, saw their streak of 75 consecutive league games without a goalless draw come to an end, with their last 0-0 result dating back to March 2022 against Crystal Palace.
