Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi highlights efforts for marginalised communities, wildlife conservation

New Delhi, Feb 25 (IANS) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the Mann Ki Baat programme, highlighted the efforts of Bhim Singh Bhavesh from the Musahar community in Bihar, who has been working towards the education and welfare of his community.
PM Modi praised Bhim Singh for enrolling 8,000 children from the Musahar community in schools, establishing a library, organizing medical camps, and promoting vaccination during the COVID crisis. Singh’s noble deeds serve as an example for responsible citizenship.
The Prime Minister also discussed wildlife conservation, mentioning the increase in tiger population in the Chandrapur Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra and the innovative use of technology through apps like ‘Bagheera’ and ‘Garuda’ to monitor and protect tigers in various reserves across the country.
Furthermore, PM Modi highlighted the efforts of Jayanti Mahapatra and Biren Sahu in Kalahandi, Odisha, who have introduced a goat farming scheme to improve the livelihoods of farmers. Through their initiative, more than 1,000 farmers from 50 villages are connected to the scheme, significantly impacting the local community.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of coexistence with nature and wildlife, mentioning initiatives like tribal families converting their homes into homestays in the Melghat Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra. PM Modi commended the dedication and service of individuals like Jayanti and Biren, who are making a difference in rural communities by providing sustainable solutions for livelihood improvement.
