Marathi-origin US health official visiting India to enhance health partnership

Dr. Atul Gawande, Assistant Administrator for Global Health, USAID, will be visiting India starting March 19 to enhance the US-India health partnership. Born to Marathi doctor parents in the US, he aims to collaborate with Indian officials, healthcare professionals, and leaders to address global health challenges.

During his 4-day visit, Dr. Gawande will engage with high-ranking government officials, healthcare professionals, and business leaders in New Delhi, as well as in Indore and Dewas in Madhya Pradesh. As a key member of President Joe Biden’s administration, he will emphasize the commitment to partnering with India to find solutions to health challenges.

The long-standing Indo-US collaboration has significantly impacted both countries and the world, with a focus on advancing shared global health and development priorities.
