Maruti inaugurates Ayodhya’s first automated test track – Read on for more information

Maruti Suzuki India has inaugurated its first Automated Driving Test Track (ADTT) at the Driver Training and Testing Institute (DTTI) in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The facility, inspired by the vision of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, was completed in just 45 days and is aimed at enhancing road safety by ensuring proficient drivers are granted licenses.

Rahul Bharti, Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki India, highlighted the importance of human skill and knowledge of traffic rules in road safety. The implementation of 100% computerized testing before issuing a driving license ensures that only capable drivers are given licenses. Bharti also mentioned the automation of DTTIs in Gorakhpur, Mathura, Prayagraj, and Varanasi, further emphasizing the company’s commitment to road safety.

The ADTTs evaluate candidates through tests like reverse parallel parking, overtaking, traffic junction navigation, gradient testing, and a serpentine track test. With the introduction of ADTTs and standardized testing, the pass rates for driving license applicants have improved significantly. The pass percentage dropped from 84% with manual testing to 34% with ADTTs, but it has gradually increased to 64%.

Maruti Suzuki India believes that the use of ADTTs has not only raised the standards for obtaining a license but has also contributed to increased road safety. The company has been actively promoting road safety for over two decades, focusing on the five pillars of road safety: engineering, education, evaluation, enforcement, and emergency care. The initiative aims to ensure that drivers are proficient in their skills before hitting the road, ultimately enhancing overall road safety.
