Helicopters are available at the starting point of the yatra, i.e., from a location called Katra to Sanjhichatt. The flight of 5-6 passengers takes around 8 minutes to reach the destination. Katra is located 2 km from the Katra Bus Stand at Udhampur Road.

After reaching the Sanjhichatt helipad, tourists or devotees can reach the Vaishno Devi Mandir with a hike of 30 minutes. This distance will cover 2.5 Km from Sanjhichatt helipad to Mandir. The fare for one-way transportation from Katra to Sanjhichhat or Sanjhichhat to Katra costs Rs 1730 per person.

Meanwhile, the two-way ticket costs double, Rs 3460 per person from Katra to Sanjhichhat.

Kids and toddlers who haven’t attained the age of 2 are carried out without any extra charges. However, the kids must sit on the laps of adult people.

Apart from the ticket fee, there is no extra processing fee or commission that is charged apart from this. If any tax is applicable, then it will be charged from the location of the traveler itself.

Helicopter Timings

The total duration required to reach Sanjichhat from Katra or vice versa is 08 minutes. The service facility offered by Helicopter at the Helipad starts at 08:30 AM. Every 20 minutes, helicopters make their take-offs and journey. Until 07:00 PM in the evening, this service facility remains active. However, Mata Vaishnodevi darshan timings are from 5:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM.

Step 1: Click on the “New Devotee Sign Up” link provided and register yourself on the www.maavaishnodevi.org portal.

Step 2: Log in entering the same user name and password with which you registered. Go to Helicopter Services>select date>route>no. of passenger>time> other passenger details.

Step 3: After entering relevant data, proceed with the payment, it will redirect you to the payment gateway, go to the bank site and enter the Debit card/credit card number, CVV number, and expiry date. Pay to mark the booking complete and successful.

Step 4: Obtain a printout of the transaction receipt.

“www.maavaishnodevi.org” is the official website of the of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra (SMVDSB). In the left menu bar on the home page, click on ‘Online Yatra Registration’ to proceed further.

Step 2: Terms and Conditions Page

On the new page, read the general terms and conditions, slide through the bottom, and click on ‘I agree and accept all the above terms and conditions’ and then ‘Accept’ to proceed further.

Step 3: Log In Page

Now, a new login page will appear on the screen, if you’re a new user and haven’t logged in yet, click on the ‘New user? Sign Up’ option.

Step 3: Fill Up the Required Details on the ‘Devotee Registration’ Page

On the new ‘Devotee Registration’ page, fill in all the required details. Please note, you will have to remember your user name and the password you choose here for further processes.

Step 4: Go Back to ‘Terms and Conditions Page’

Once the whole process is done, now click on the ‘Maa Vaishno Devi website logo’ on the top, and you will back to the ‘Terms and Conditions’ page, here again click on ‘I agree and accept all the above terms and conditions’ and then ‘Accept’ to proceed further, and you’ll be back to the log in page, now fill in you username and password details here.

Step 5: Select the Date, Time, and Availability

After registering successfully, on the new page click on the ‘Yatra Parchi’ option in the header menu, and select the yatra date according to your convenience along with the number of passengers.

After inquiring about the availability, enter the required details of each passenger. Many people commit mistakes while filling up the details. Thus, it is advised to double-check before submitting the final step. Once submitted, the details can not be modified later.

Step 6: Make the Payment:

Payment can be done online via debit card or credit card. For processing the payment, the details of the debit card or credit card are to be inserted. After a successful payment, note down the transaction ID and take a printout of the Yatra parchi.

Step 7: Download the Copy of the Electronic Reservation Slip:

After making a successful reservation, pilgrims are advised to print out a copy of the Electronic Yatra Parchi. Along with this other documents like original Debit Card, credit card, valid photo ID address proof, etc need to be preserved together. For future reference, save your Transaction ID, and in case of any issue or errors occurring at the time of the transaction, send an email to ‘online@maavaishnodevi.org.’ Email is to be dropped within 48 hours of the transaction date.

Cancellation Policy

A cancellation policy in the case of booked tickets for Vaishnodevi is possible. However, the tickets which are booked online from the official website can be canceled only. The tickets collected over the counter do not qualify for cancellation requests or money-back. In case of applying for cancellation, 30% of the fare gets deducted as a part of processing charges, and only 70% of the fare returns. Before the date of schedule, helicopter tickets can be cancelled 4 days in advance. The amount after deduction comes back to the same account via which the transaction was done.

However, if the cancellation of the helicopter from Sanjichhat to Katra or vice versa is made due to technical reasons or bad weather, a full refund will be processed to the user’s account by the authority. A full refund can be availed by the travelers or tourists by showing their online Helicopter ticket to the party concerned or the respective helicopter operator.
