Mateo Diaz, Young Motocross Enthusiast, Dies at 14 in Texas, Organs Donated, GoFundMe Launched

Mateo Diaz was a motocross enthusiast who lost his life tragically in a devastating accident on March 20, 2024. Mateo Diaz was only 14 years old when met with a fatal collision in Conroe, Texas.

At the time of the collision, the 14-year-old boy was practising at 3 Palms. Two days after the accident, Mateo died, on March 22, 2024, Friday. 

In the wake of this accident, even amidst heavy grief, Mateo Diaz’s parents announced their remarkable decision. They said that they would donate Mateo’s organs, which would benefit “another parent from the anguish of losing their child.”

When Mateo met with the accident, he was quickly transferred to the Woodlands hospital via ambulance. The 14-year-old underwent critical brain surgery. 

For further treatment, he was shifted to Children’s Memorial Human in Houston, Texas. 

When the process of organ donation ended, his remains were cremated. After cremation, the ash was repatriated to Mexico and “was laid to rest beside his paternal grandmother.”

The 14-year-old Mateo Diaz hailed from Mexico. To pursue his passion for motocross, he travelled with his family to the United States. 

On the recent weekend of Mateo’s death, he had participated in the Great American Team Race at 3 Palms along with two motocross national races at Oakhill and Freestone. 

Mateo Diaz aimed to qualify for an important event in the motocross universe, ‘Loretta’s.’ With becoming the local qualifier at 3 Palms in a span of just two weeks, he visioned the beginning of his journey. 

GoFundMe Launched

In order to cover various expenses such as medical bills, travel costs, and burial arrangements, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to raise funds so that Mateo’s family can get financial support at their low times. 

TimesNow reported that, despite having insurance coverage, neither Mateo’s family nor he himself benefitted from the same, as the insurance did not extend to international medical expenses.

As of writing this article, out of $200,000 target, $127,379 has been raised on the GoFundMe page.
