The journey of Pakistan-born Mahasir Dharam Pal Gulati is full of inspiration
Mahashay Dharampal Gulati was born on 27 March 1923 in Sialkot, Pakistan. He left school even before completing 5th grade. In 1937, he started his business with the help of his father and did soap, carpenter, cloth, hardware, rice. He started working on his father’s shop named ‘Maheshiyan Di Hatti’. After the partition of India and Pakistan, he moved to Delhi. It is said that on 27 September 1947, he had only 1500 rupees.

Monsieur Dharmapala Gulati also ran a tanga for money. He bought a Tanga for Rs 650 and ran it between Qutub Road from New Delhi railway station. A few days later he gave it to Tanga Bhai and started selling spices by setting up a small shop on Ajmal Khan Road in Karol Bagh. The spice business went on and then the foundation of the MDH brand started.
