Meta Founder Zuckerberg meets LG CEO to discuss AR strategy

Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg met with LG Electronics CEO Cho Joo-wan in Seoul on Wednesday to discuss collaborations in the XR and AR sector, reports Yonhap news agency. Zuckerberg also had business meetings with key figures, including possibly Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong.

The meeting between Cho and Zuckerberg highlights the mutual interest of the two companies in advancing XT technologies for future innovation and growth. Cho had expressed LG’s commitment to expanding its presence in the XR market during ‘CES 2024’. Meta recently released its Quest 3 VR headset to compete with Apple’s Vision Pro headset.

Zuckerberg is likely to discuss cooperation in AI memory chips and XR businesses with Jae-yong during his stay in Seoul. Meta announced plans for AGI and a new AI chip, while Samsung has a unit for AGI research in Silicon Valley. Zuckerberg will also meet with representatives from five XR startups to advance Meta’s XR headset technology.

Before departing for India, Zuckerberg is expected to meet with President Yoon Suk Yeol in Seoul. Meta Korea has not confirmed details of his trip. Stay tuned for more updates on their discussions in the XR and AI sectors.
