Zimmer has been one impressive career from the very first day. As a defensive assistant, he started working his way up the coaching ladder, eventually ending up in the NFL by 1994 as an assistant coach of defensive backs for the Dallas Cowboys, akin to hitting the jackpot in a scratch-off game.
