Mooney-Wolvaardt partnership leads Giants to first victory in WPL

Gujarat Giants staged a comeback in the Women’s Premier League by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 18 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Giants, having lost four consecutive matches, set a target of 199, thanks to a century opening stand by Laura Wolvaardt and Beth Mooney.

Wolvaardt and Mooney’s partnership of 140 runs laid the foundation for Giants’ resurgence. While Sophie Devine tried to chase down the target for RCB, her dismissal provided Giants with a chance. Despite valiant efforts by Richa Ghosh and Georgia Wareham, RCB fell short by 19 runs in the end.

The nail-biting encounter showcased resilience and determination as Gujarat Giants secured their first victory in the tournament. With this win, they now look to make a strong push for the knockout stages, signaling a potential resurgence in their WPL campaign.
