Mumbai’s CSMIA Named Best Airport in Asia Pacific Region for 7th Time, Serving Over 40 million Passengers

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has once again been recognized as the ‘Best Airport with over 40 million passengers’ in the Asia Pacific Region by the Airports Council International’s (ACI) Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards for the seventh consecutive year. This prestigious award is a result of the airport’s commitment to providing exceptional customer experiences and facilities.

ACI World Director-General Luis Felipe de Oliveira commended CSMIA for its dedication and innovation in redefining the airport experience, stating that the ASQ awards celebrate outstanding customer service and recognize the hard work of the entire airport team.

CSMIA has implemented various initiatives over the past year to enhance customer experiences, including completing a major re-carpeting project, introducing safety enhancements, and pioneering efforts to reduce ground delays and carbon emissions. The airport also introduced a domestic-to-domestic passenger transfer facility to improve transit times and commissioned a specialized Disabled Aircraft Recovery Kit for more efficient recovery processes.

Furthermore, CSMIA has introduced advanced technology such as 2D Barcode readers, a Parking Guidance System, and the DigiYatra initiative, which utilizes artificial intelligence and facial recognition to automate and accelerate the check-in process, ensuring a seamless travel experience for passengers.

In November 2023, CSMIA achieved record-high passenger traffic and Aircraft Traffic Movements, showcasing its growing importance as a leading airport in the region. The airport’s Platinum Rating in the Green Airports Recognition Programme by ACI Asia-Pacific further underscores its dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

ASQ surveys are conducted globally to gather passenger feedback on airport services, and CSMIA’s consistent recognition in the Asia Pacific Region reflects its ongoing efforts to provide exceptional customer experiences and set new standards in the aviation industry.
