Musk Responds to Parag Agrawal’s Lawsuit with Emoji
San Francisco, March 5 (IANS) Former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, along with three other employees, has filed a lawsuit against billionaire Elon Musk for unpaid severance totaling about $128 million. The lawsuit alleges that Musk publicly vowed to withhold their payments after taking over Twitter for $44 billion in 2022.
Agrawal, ex-CFO Ned Segal, former Twitter legal head Vijaya Gadde, and former General Counsel Sean Edgett are claiming that Musk has shown “special ire” towards them, accusing him of not abiding by payment agreements and using his wealth and power to run roughshod over dissenters.
In response to the lawsuit, Musk simply reacted with an emoji when a social media follower brought up the allegations. The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, accuses Musk of non-payment to employees, landlords, vendors, and others, stating that he believes rules do not apply to him.
The executives were informed of their termination in October 2022, with Agrawal set to receive the largest payout of around $40 million, primarily due to the vesting of his shares upon firing. The total exit package for the three top executives exceeded $100 million, according to reports. Musk’s behavior is under scrutiny as the legal battle unfolds, shedding light on alleged discrepancies in his financial dealings.
